Solar activity reached high levels due to multiple M-class flares from Region 3559 (N26W82, Eao/beta-gamma). The first was an M1.2/Sf at 29/0140 UTC with an associated narrow CME observed off the NW limb at 29/0148 UTC. The second was an M6.8 flare at 29/0438 UTC with an associated Type II radio sweep (512 km/s) and a 2700 sfu Tenflare. An associated partial halo CME was first observed at 29/0424 UTC. Analysis and modeling efforts suggest the bulk of the CME will pass well ahead of Earth, however a shock enhancement can not be ruled out.
The solar kp index is unsettled, with retrograde effects slightly enhanced. The solar wind speed is high, making retrograde effects significantly increased!
Solar wind parameters were mildly enhanced, likely from a connection to the northern, negative polarity, CH HSS. Solar wind speed was between 400-450 km/s. Total field was mostly at 6-8 nT and Bz was variable. Phi angle was negative.
