Solar Activity
Solar activity was at low levels. Region 4143 (N24W92, Dao/beta) continued to produced low-level C-class flares during its transit of the northwestern limb. Region 4149 (N17E30, Ehi/beta-gamma) exhibited minor growth in its leading penumbra, but remained relatively quiet. Region 4150 (S14E29, Dso/beta) produced a C6.4 flare at 22/2012 UTC, which was the largest event of the period. Region 4153 (S29E56, Dao/beta) was numbered this period and was the culprit for a C3.4 flare at 22/1726 UTC. New, simple spots were noted N09E68, but remain unnumbered at this time. New spots were noted rotating into view near S15 on the eastern limb, but remain unnumbered at this time as well as we await proper viewing conditions for classification. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed in available coronagraph imagery. .Forecast... Solar activity is expected to be low with a chance for M-class flares (R1-R2/Minor-Moderate) through 25 July.
Solar Wind
The solar wind environment reflected a SSBC and CIR onset in advance of a recurrent, negative polarity CH HSS. Total field increased to a peak of 24 nT while the Bz component underwent a sustained, southward deflection reaching -14 nT near the end of the UTC day. Solar wind speeds underwent a gradual increase from near 330 km/s to approximately 530 km/s. Phi became predominantly negative around 22/1227 UTC.
Energetic Particle
The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels with a peak flux of 10,500 pfu observed at 22/2110 UTC. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was steady at background levels throughout the period.
